Shadow on the Wall

I stare at my shadow as it lies on the wall,

It stares back and I expect it to call,

What do you see on this tattered face,

Why are you gesturing at me with disgrace,

Shambled and torn I see you so clearly,

A spectral visage staggering drearily,

Take a step back through that door behind,

The light is too close your image unwind,

Such a clouded prism you see through,

Make it transparent and always pursue,

The fading dreams will grow far from your grasp,

Let them slip too quick you surely won't last,

The passion is the life that breathes ambition,

Not for the intrinsic motives but for your own volition,

To let it die is a true tragedy I won't permit,

I am your shadow we shall never submit
